Kumble Resigns As Head Coach Of India

Anil Kumble stepped down as the coach of the Indian National Cricket Team after the team’s shameful loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. There were already rumors about a rift between Kohli and Kumble. Although, Kohli denied that any such rift existed,  Kumble made it very clear that the two were not seeing eye to eye. He believes that Indian players don’t like his intimidating style of coaching.

Kumble’s one-year contract was signed in June 2016. His contract had expired but the team management offered him to continue as the head coach and renew the contract. He did not accept the offer and stepped down as the head coach. The team performed well under him, but before the start of the Champions Trophy, he had a dispute with Kohli. He has given this as the reason why he stepped down as India’s head Coach.

The contenders for the post are Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus , Lalchand Rajput , Dodda Ganesh and Ravi Shastri.MV Sridhar, the General Manager of Cricket Operations, will be managing the team for the West Indies Tour.

Personally, I would prefer if an Indian cricketer took over. I love Rahul Dravid’s coaching style, but since he is busy with the Under-19 team, Ravi Shastri would be my personal choice. Richard Pybus is also a very experienced and knowledgable coach.
