This is what I think the XI would look like if all the current Indian players did not play and new players got a chance. I have selected from IPL’s seasoned players, new players and U-19 players. Remember that this is for a T20 format.
I have selected him because even though he is not uncapped, he has been out of the side for some time. He opens for me but he can mould himself to bat at 3 or 4 too. He provides the experience and inputs to the young team. Being one of the most experienced players in my side, even without much captaincy experience, he might captain for me.
He is another player who has good experience and can mould himself to bat somewhere else down the order too. If he is in good form, Rayudu and Yadav would be a lethal combination up the order.
3.Shreyas Iyer (c)
I’m choosing Shreyas as my captain because he has shown improvement in his captaincy and batting. If he is too pressurised by the load, then Rayudu may take the reigns. I was contemplating over Samson for this position but I ultimately chose Iyer because he added the extra captaincy boost.
Rishabh is in excellent form and his aggressive batting would help if the upper order batsmen get a good start. He is my main batsman and I would count on Shreyas and Pant building partnerships so that finishers can finish off the innings strongly.
I was contemplating over Shubman as an opener or No.3 batsman but I think he could finish off games if there is a good start and he could also handle the innings if there is a collapse later on. Notice that all my Top 5 batsmen are very flexible and the order can be changed according to the situation.
He has inspired a lot in IPL and I think an India recall is coming. He is my sixth bowler and third spinner so he won’t be needed to bowl a lot. He will provide finishing touches to my side.
7. Krishnappa Gowtham
I have been impressed by his batting more than his bowling. He can hit the ball well so he is the last of my batsmen. His spin would be useful and he would start the bowling and bowl one more over whenever economical bowling is needed.
8. Kamlesh Nagarkoti
He hasn’t played a match this IPL because of injury but he was really good in the World Cup. He would open the bowling for me with Gowtham. He would be useful on seaming tracks and I’d bank on him to provide me with the early wickets.
9. Shivam Mavi
He would bowl after the power play and in the death. He and Nagarkoti form a deadly combination and they are my frontline pacers.
10. Mayank Markhande
This player has impressed one and all with his clever variations and willingness to take wickets even at the cost of runs. He is my frontline spinner who will bowl full 4 overs and he’d have Gowtham and Krunal to support him.
11. Siddharth Kaul
He is my death overs specialist and he would be instrumental in defending targets. His accurate bowling has troubled batsmen and he is one of the main reasons why SRH are able to defend such small totals.
So that was my 11. If you would do something differently, please feel free to comment! Thank You!
